In this role, you will serve as a trusted guide and advocate, providing proactive support in academics, retention, and holistic student development. You’ll build positive relationships, intervene early when challenges arise, and empower students to persist through to graduation. Job Summary:

The Student Success Advisor provides individualized advising and coaching to students, monitors academic progress and attendance, and implements strategies to strengthen retention and persistence. This role fosters a culture of resilience and growth mindset, addresses professionalism and conduct concerns, and helps connect students with internal and external resources.

The Advisor also plays a key role in student engagement and community-building, from workshops to events, while maintaining accurate records and reports that drive data-informed decision making. Ultimately, the Student Success Advisor ensures students feel supported, connected, and equipped to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Student Retention & Advising – Provide one-on-one and group advising on academic, personal, and social challenges; monitor attendance and progress; intervene early with persistence strategies; and support students through to program completion.
• Foster a Growth Mindset Culture – Encourage resilience, belonging, and purpose by framing challenges as opportunities for growth.
• Professionalism Coaching & Conduct Referral – Address behavioral or professionalism concerns appropriately, document accurately, and make referrals in line with institutional policies.
• Data & Reporting – Track performance, identify trends, and maintain accurate records to guide evidence-based interventions.
• Communication & Outreach – Create materials and updates that highlight student services; serve as liaison with faculty, leadership, and community resource partners.
• Engagement & Student Life – Design and lead workshops, events, and activities that enhance student engagement and campus culture.
• Compliance – Stay current on policies, procedures, and higher education regulations affecting student success.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Education, or related field required; Master’s preferred.
• Experience: 3+ years in student services, advising, or success programming.
• Knowledge & Skills:
• Expertise in supporting diverse and underserved student populations.
• Strong knowledge of student success strategies, campus services, and community resources.
• Skilled in data tracking, reporting, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to collaborate across departments and build positive student relationships.
