Patient Advocate Location: Gadsden, AL
Schedule: M-F 8:00am-4:30pm CST
About the role As a Patient Advocate you will make an impact by helping patients to navigate the healthcare system. You will be a valued member of the Cognizant team and work collaboratively with other stakeholders and teams.
In this role, you will: - Assist patients and others to complete forms, applications, and other paperwork.
- Collect and review patient information to determine patient's eligibility.
- Prepare documents, review for accuracy and completeness.
- Provide technical assistance on agency issues, services, and programs.
- Maintain and/or create files or record keeping systems. Sort, label files, and retrieve documents or other materials.
- Interact with patients at the site to provide real-time service support and address patient concerns.
- Develop and retain professional relationships with hospital staff.
- Handle caseload, retrieve, sustain, and communicate all designated reports.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to EMTALA and HIPAA guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned.

Based on this role's business requirements, this is an onsite position requiring 5 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in city, state.

What you need to have to be considered - 1+ year of work experience in health care, medical insurance, hospital, or clinic
- High School or GED required; associate degree or equivalent from 2-year college a plus.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced diverse environment
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with patients and hospital staff.
- Ability to travel locally to other work sites.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel pivot tables, Project, and PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare processes.
Salary and Other Compensation :
The hourly rate for this position is between $21.00 - 24.00 per hour, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Applications will be accepted until 8/15/2025.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
