Amentum is seeking a General Maintenance Technician II to join our operations & maintenance team in Columbus, Ohio. This position is responsible for providing an intermediate level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing repairs to fixtures and systems in a critical infrastructure environment. Working under minimal supervision as a member of a self-directed work team, this is a multi-craft position that may perform machine repairs and general non-licensed maintenance work, as well as support other licensed trades as directed. Requires good working knowledge of all types and applications of equipment pertaining to maintenance and operations for assigned area, and the ability to work within machine tolerances. General maintenance, including minor duties in carpentry, painting, and sheet metal, may also be required. The General Maintenance Technician II must have the ability to identify and correct any safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures. General Maintenance of equipment will also be required. Responsibilities include performing planned maintenance on all building equipment and related services for specific area while being sensitive and responsive to customer needs; operating and maintaining HVAC equipment and systems for the facility; demonstrating proficiency with pneumatic, electric, and electronic control systems; diagnosing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing heating and ventilation equipment, pumps, fans, air dryers, compressors, and other mechanical equipment as necessary; performing preventative maintenance inspections; developing and implementing planned maintenance procedures, performing job estimates, maintaining spare parts inventory; assisting in installing, inspecting new equipment and servicing installations; providing support to co-workers, contractors, vendors, project managers, building managers, and engineers as necessary to support project and renovation work; complying with all governmental, company, and industrial regulations, codes, and standards, health safety practices, and permit systems; performing preventive maintenance as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); responding and providing service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations and industry standards; recommending measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance; safely performing functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required; operating various measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions; operating a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work; maintaining a strict schedule to be successful in the assignment yet demonstrating flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer; and other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor. Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, 3 years of experience as an HVAC/R Maintenance Technician or Facility Maintenance Technician in relevant environments, ability to work in aerial or scissor lifts at heights up to 30 feet or higher. Additional requirements include passing a pre-employment substance abuse test, possible valid Driver’s License, and ability to obtain a security access badge. Physical requirements include repetitive wrist movement, extensive walking, climbing ladders and stairs, flexibility in movement, color differentiation for wire color-coding, ability to read and understand documents and computer screens, use of office equipment and computers, attending meetings and potential travel, communication skills, computer fluency including Microsoft products, and ability to move light to medium weight materials. Special requirements include wearing steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other PPE as needed, coping with job-related stressors, willingness to work overtime, holidays, weekends, and flexible work schedules based on business needs.
